Take Your Pet Anywhere With Confidence
USDA-Certified Health Certificates
Our veterinarians are USDA-accredited and authorized to issue official health certificates for both domestic and international pet travel. International travel requirements vary widely by destination, it is the pet owner's responsibility to research the entry requirements of the country you are traveling to and to provide us with any required paperwork or forms ahead of your appointment.
For country-specific requirements and guidelines, visit the USDA APHIS Pet Travel site.
Why Your Pet Needs a Health & Travel Certificate
- Proof of Good Health: A health certificate confirms that your pet has been examined by a licensed veterinarian and is fit for travel. This matters especially for senior pets or those managing ongoing health conditions, who may need additional accommodations during the journey.
- Required by Airlines & Transportation Companies: Most airlines and transportation providers require a current health certificate before permitting a pet on board. Missing documentation can result in your pet being turned away at the gate. Requirements vary by carrier, so check with your airline before scheduling your exam.
- Up-to-Date Vaccinations: Travel exposes pets to unfamiliar environments and animals. A health certificate confirms your pet's vaccinations are current and that they're protected against illnesses common to your destination. International destinations, particularly those where rabies is endemic, require proof of valid rabies vaccination for entry.
What's Included in Your Pet's Health Certificate
- Your pet's name, species, breed, age, and sex
- Your contact information
- Our clinic's contact information and accreditation details
- Proof of current vaccinations and any required boosters
- Documentation of any pre-existing conditions or current medications
- A signed veterinary statement confirming your pet is healthy and fit for travel
How the Process Works
Schedule a travel health exam at Animal Mansion Veterinary Hospital well in advance of your departure date. During the visit, we'll perform a full physical examination, administer any necessary vaccinations, and complete the required certificate documentation.
Timing matters, some vaccines require multiple doses or need time to take effect before they're valid for travel. Certain international destinations also require USDA endorsement of the health certificate after it's issued, which adds processing time.
We recommend scheduling your appointment at least 2–4 weeks before your trip. For international travel, earlier is better.
